Welcome!

School started again today. Nice to see all the cheery little faces. Term 2 is short and fast and we will be on March break in no time.

At least one exciting thing that we have to look forward to is the arrival of our iPad cart! We will have a class set or two available in the school this term and I hope to have everyone in the class using them quite regularly.

In anticipation of this, and to help parents stay informed of goings on, I have put together this class blog site. Here you will be able to see notices, homework, projects that students have done and general news.

There is also a link to the Khan Academy in the right hand column of this blog, under "Notices." (Looks just like this logo here). I am going to use this site on a trial basis this term to augment student learning... mainly in math. Khan Academy is being used by many schools in North America and fits well within the concept of personalized learning. Students will be able to watch videos on the same concepts we are learning in class and do practice sessions online from home.

I will be able to track progress of the class and you, the parents, will be able to track the progress of your son or daughter.  Students can also see how they are doing. In so doing, you and your son/daughter will be able to see where extra practice is needed and I will be able to see precisely which concepts I need to revisit and re-teach with which students.

In order to do this, students will need to create a Google (gmail) account and sign me on as a "coach." I will be asking parents to create these accounts with their son/daughter and then I will be able to handle the coach sign on from school. Once that is done we can all get started together.

To sign up for an account click on this logo and it will take you to the page you need:
Please create using "first name" with "div13" attached to it for user name.

E.g. A student called Jimmy Gumdrop would sign up using the user name "jimmydiv13"

If you have any questions feel free to contact me or come in for a visit.
